Mathew Staver on The Huckabee Show this Weekend to Discuss Changes to Textbooks
www.LC.org
This weekend Mathew D. Staver, Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel and Dean of Liberty University School of Law, will appear on Mike Huckabee’s show to discuss potentially dramatic changes to the framework of textbooks that are being discussed by the Texas State Board of Education (TSBOE). Huckabee and Staver will be revealing suggested changes, some of which are still under discussion. The show will begin at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday and 2:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, Eastern Time.
TSBOE will soon finalize the language that textbook publishers use to align their textbooks to current standards. As Texas is a leader in textbooks, most other states purchase the same educational materials. The textbook controversy in Texas affects every American because, to have a bright future, we must know our past. America has a rich past founded on Judeo-Christian values and to forget them, or worse, to distort them, will doom our future. Those who want to reshape America begin by rewriting our past. We repeat the mistakes of the past when we are ignorant of them.

- Removing references to Daniel Boone, General George Patton, Nathan Hale, Columbus Day, and Christmas.
- Including the cultural impact of hip hop music, ACLU lawyer Clarence Darrow, and the Hindu holiday of Diwali.
- Replacing the term "American" with "Global Citizen"– stating that students need to be shaped "for responsible citizenship in a global society" without any mention of citizenship in American society.
- Replacing expansionism and free enterprise with imperialism and capitalism.

"Son, Remember"
By Jerry Stewart -
It has been said that George Washington actually had a set of false teeth made of wood. that doesn't appear to be true. And the story that as a small boy he chopped down that cherry tree and when asked by his father he said, "I cannot tell a lie, yes I chopped down the tree". That story doesn't appear to be true either.
But its easy to see why that story was believed to be true, because George Washington was a man of the highest character and integrity. (Continue reading...)

Evergreen Freedom Foundation Push Back No New Taxes Rally
By Lynn Harsh
When they can't ignore you, it means our ideological opposition is worried. When they start calling you pejorative names, it means they can't think of anything more intelligent to say.
About our February 15 Rally and Action Day on the Capitol steps our opponents said: "...the Teabaggers are organizing a competing rally to oppose our progressive vision for Washington. They represent a confederate flag-waving, anti-government, survival of the richest approach to the future."
Wow! That offensive hyperbole comes as lawmakers are poised to dismantle yet another spending control measure passed by citizens. A bill to gut Initiative 960's protections against tax hikes and spending transparency was introduced last week. Less than 24 hours later, the bill was scheduled for a public hearing.
Several special interest groups, representing millions in taxpayer-subsidized activities, testified in favor of higher spending, higher debt, and higher taxes. No individuals testified in favor of tax increases. We were there to talk about ways to balance the budget without tax increases. Other individuals and business leaders testified against raising taxes.
We are speaking up: We who love the American people and don't want to lose the promise our country affords each of us! Last Wednesday we delivered more than 20,000 signatures from you and others with a simple message to lawmakers: Balance the state budget within existing revenues. We included specific big-ticket suggestions on how to do this.
On February 15, at 10:00 a.m., we will have a Rally on the Capitol steps. Please come if you can, and bring your children, your grandchildren, and your neighbors kids, too. After all, this is about their future. And the 15th is a school holiday.
Also, many lawmakers and political pundits are telling us that it’s impossible to get out of our deep financial mess without raising new taxes, or that innocent people will be hurt if we reduce spending. That's not true! So we are hosting a new kind of American Town Hall Meeting this Wednesday, February 10, at 7:00 p.m. It’s a virtual event, and all you need is a telephone to participate. During this hour, you will hear straight talk from Amber Gunn and Steve Maggi about the nature and size of our financial difficulties.
You will also hear about specific ways we can change the course of current events. Jon Caldera, radio talk show host and President of Colorado’s largest think tank, will join us to describe how big-government politicians took over his center-right state and what they are doing to get it back. It applies directly to us here in Washington State.
We are providing many ways for citizens to make their voices heard, as well as concrete solutions to help balance the budget. It's because we believe that every American citizen must have an equal opportunity to pursue his or her dreams: where government is not picking winners and losers; where lawmakers do not rob from future generations. Accomplishing this requires that we--citizens of our beloved America--elect servant-leaders, not elitists, and that we speak up and engage in the civic process.
For those of you who wish to participate instead of just listen, we will answer as many of your questions as possible.
Please join us this Wednesday for our Tele-Town Hall Meeting, and next Monday for the Rally on the Capitol steps in Olympia. We can't do this without each other.
Sincerely,
Lynn Harsh

Sarah Palin: ‘Bi-partisanship’ out
By Grant Swank Sunday, February 7, 2010 Sarah Palin hit the nail on the head when she told the Tea Party Nation Convention that this repeated mantra of ‘bi-partisanship’ needs to find exit. Quickly. Like right now.
When Congressmen continue to boast on their bi-partisanship, it reveals their lack of conviction. That’s the upshot of what Palin was declaring.
For an elected official to state sweet things to media by continually bragging on how nicely he reaches “across the aisle” makes bland aCongress
.
Greta Van Susteren of Fox News gets to the same point. When interviewing John McCain, he kept sounding lovely by accenting his “bi-partisanship” in Congress.
She interrupted him abruptly to ask him why he said those sweet words about his opponents. And then she went on to refer to others who do the same. She did not let up on her criticism of limp verbiage.

"He Saved the Flag"
By Jerry Stewart -
The year was 1976. It was our country's bicentennial - we had been a free nation for exactly 200 years. It was April 25 and our baseball season was in full swing. That day one of the many games going on was between the Chicago Cubs and the Los Angeles Dodgers playing at Dodger Stadium. Playing center field for the Cubs was lefty Rick Monday. According to Rick, this is what happened in the fourth inning. He says, “I was in center field. I don't know if I heard the crowd first or saw the guys first, but two guys ran on the field.” He said, “When people run on the field, you don’t know what’s going to happen. Is it because they had too much to drink? Are they trying to win a bet?” They just don’t know. (Continue reading...)

Washington State Legislature to bring '59' New Taxes/Fees to the State Floor
While listening to the Joe & Patti Show in the morning program on KGMI, I was shocked to hear how many new taxes and fees that are being proposed by the Washington State Legislature. Make no mistake, every one of these, if passed, will be passed on to 'We the People'. I have posted Patti's Blog with all of the new proposed bills that increase or add new taxes and fees for the 2010 session. (I know that Patti lists a total of 61 new taxes and fees, but I can only count 59 listed on her blog)
So if you are concerned, as I am, take a look at the bill numbers, go to the Washington State Legislature website, read about what they are proposing and contact your representative to let them know what you think of their cure for a $2.9 'Billion' deficit to the Washington State budget.
Do you agree that this is not sustainable, predictable government? Do you agree that if we do not reduce the size of government and the long term obligations they are weighing down the private sector with, we'll never get back to real economic health? Well if you do, get out of your chair and do something about it! R~ K. Halterman

There are 20 Tax Bills and 41 Fee Bills on the table in Olympia as we speak. Do you like what’s being served??? By the way, state income tax is there. I highly doubt they would repeal sales tax and put in place an income tax.

"They Drugged Us"
By Jerry Stewart -
It was 1967 when I was offered my first drugs. I remember saying to the drug dealer, "Why would I put anything in my mouth and swallow it when I don't even know who you are?"
Then I proceeded to give him some wise advice, "Best you get away from me before I hurt you". I was never offered drugs again.
Since that time, an epidemic has swept over our America that I still don't understand - an epidemic of drug abuse so serious that some actually think that our best solution is to make drugs legal. Yeah, right!
But recently I heard a completely different spin on how those of us that grew up in the 40's, 50's and 60's - how we were drugged. See if any of these sound familiar: (Continue reading...)

Climategate: CRU Was But the Tip of the Iceberg
The following article at American Thinker amounts to peer review -- scientists looking at other scientists' work in search of mistakes and oversights -- in order to arrive at the truth. Scientists often find this process aggravating, because nobody likes having other people point out deficiencies in their work. Getting at the truth takes a lot of humility.
The thing I find shocking about this particular review is not only the amount of grade-school arithmetic and design errors that it discovers, but what appears to be deliberate, unmitigated data manipulation. From this, it is obvious that what has passed for "peer review" by climate scientists has been the most uncritical joke imaginable. It wasn't peer review, it was clique review. The scientists making these accusations are no crackpot "outliers". Furthermore, the errors they uncover should be obvious even to non-science observers. Transparency in the climate sciences, as in congress, appears to be sorely lacking these days.
If it were simply a matter of some scientists being wrong about the climate, the truth would out eventually. Mankind would be late in obtaining accurate data, but ... no harm, no foul. The thing that makes this the most foul, harmful kind of criminal fraud is the fact that governments worldwide stand poised to impose draconian public policy on billions of hapless citizens worldwide based on this fiction. It is no exaggeration to say that this may be the most heinous fraud ever perpetrated on humanity. ~ Karl Uppiano
By Marc Sheppard
Not surprisingly, the blatant corruption exposed at Britain’s premiere climate institute was not contained within the nation’s borders. Just months after the Climategate scandal broke, a new study has uncovered compelling evidence that our government’s principal climate centers have also been manipulating worldwide temperature data in order to fraudulently advance the global warming political agenda.
Not only does the preliminary report [PDF] indict a broader network of conspirators, but it also challenges the very mechanism by which global temperatures are measured, published, and historically ranked.
Last Thursday, Certified Consulting Meteorologist Joseph D’Aleo and computer expert E. Michael Smith appeared together on KUSI TV [Video] to discuss the Climategate -- American Style scandal they had discovered. This time out, the alleged perpetrators are the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS).
NOAA stands accused by the two researchers of strategically deleting cherry-picked, cooler-reporting weather observation stations from the temperature data it provides the world through its National Climatic Data Center (NCDC). D’Aleo explained to show host and Weather Channel founder John Coleman that while the Hadley Center in the U.K. has been the subject of recent scrutiny, “[w]e think NOAA is complicit, if not the real ground zero for the issue.”
And their primary accomplices are the scientists at GISS, who put the altered data through an even more biased regimen of alterations, including intentionally replacing the dropped NOAA readings with those of stations located in much warmer locales.
As you’ll soon see, the ultimate effects of these statistical transgressions on the reports which influence climate alarm and subsequently world energy policy are nothing short of staggering. (Continue reading...)

Reinventing Environmentalism -- A Leadership Conference Saturday, February 26 & 27
Promoting Property Rights, Conservation & Prosperity
To: State & local elected officials & candidates, grassroots & community leaders, public lands & water users, property owners, nonprofit & trade association representatives, businessmen & women, government agency personnel, students, and concerned citizens
From: National Water & Conservation Alliance
Plan to join us at the Northland Inn in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota on Friday evening and Saturday, February 26 & 27 for the premier conference, “Reinventing Environmentalism.” Be a part of this new initiative designed to change the course of the modern environmental movement by empowering people and communities at the grassroots level.
In the words of the late author Michael Crichton in his powerful book, State of Fear, “We need a new environmental movement with new goals and new organizations.” The modern environmental movement has become extreme, elitist, and consumed with money, power and control from the top down. With your help, the February conference will define practical ways to reverse this trend.
The conference is suggested for people involved in and concerned about the impact of environmental policy on agriculture, energy, forestry, mining, recreation, jobs and small business. It is designed for a wide range of constituents, including farmers, loggers, foresters, energy producers, trade unions, hunting, fishing and other outdoor recreation interests, attorneys, small businessmen and women, representatives of non-profit organizations, government agency personnel, college students, elected officials and staff.
The Friday reception will feature a pioneer biologist speaking on the dangers of politicized science. On Saturday, our lineup of experts will address topics that include eminent domain, takings, federal vs. state and local jurisdiction, hunting and fishing issues, access to and use of public lands and waters, documenting government abuses of citizens, overcoming partisanship and ideology, and analyzing watersheds as the new battlefields for controlling land and water use. The conference will wrap up with a presentation on how to make a grassroots movement work, followed by a general discussion of a proposed mission statement, guiding principles, and action items.
One action item will be to finalize a model that can apply to all land and water within any given region of the country as an alternative to federal or state initiatives. This will involve cooperative arrangements among local elected bodies and their constituents. It may involve state and /or federal legislative or administrative measures. We want you at the conference to help design the most practical and effective model possible. This needs to be able to make sense and work in your area. If you are not able to attend, try to find someone in your community or county that can.

MLK Had A Dream, But Liberals Created a Nightmare
This video talks about what tea partiers & conservatives and Republicans & Democrats need to do to decode and counteract "progressive" propaganda, and make positive changes in the lives of all Americans.
The speaker in this video is critical of Democrats, but he doesn't give Republicans a pass either. Both parties need to focus on the Constitution, and reject the anti-constitutional "progressive" agenda. (Click here to view...)
